The Iranian Students’ Foundation at the University of Maryland invites you to join us for Nowruz In Memory, Unity, and Hope - 1405 Friday, March 27, 2026 Riggs Alumni Center This year, our Nowruz gathering carries deeper meaning. In light of the ongoing hardships, loss of life, and trauma impacting the people of Iran, we are intentionally recentering this evening around solidarity, remembrance, and strength within our community. This year's Nowruz will not look like the traditional celebrations. Rather than a traditional festivity, this gathering acknowledges what is happening in Iran, honors those fighting for freedom, and creates space for our community to come together in solidarity and support of the Iranian people. It is not meant to be a vigil, nor our typical Nowruz celebration, but instead a space for community. Together, we honor the resilience of our heritage, reflect on those we hold in our hearts, and stand united. The evening will include thoughtful remarks, traditional and empowering performances, and time to gather with one another over dinner, tea, and sweets. Instead of a dance floor, we will close the night in conversation, with the lights on, music softened, and space to simply be together.  Even in grief, Nowruz reminds us that renewal is possible, and that we remain connected across distance. Dinner catered by Moby Dick House of Kabob is included with every ticket, along with Persian tea, desserts, and fresh fruit. Accessibility and Community Support In recognition of the current circumstances impacting our community, we have intentionally and significantly reduced ticket prices this year and cut costs wherever possible to ensure this gathering remains accessible and respectful. At the same time, hosting an event of this scale involves significant expenses that are only sustainable through the support of our community.
